Welcome to the DYC sailing section. Please navigate to a sub-section on the left hand side. The wind is picking up, so I'll see you on the water. |

The catamaran section is a very active section with racing every Saturday afternoon throughout the year. Races start at 15H30 and are usually completed by 17H30, in time for a social beer while working out the race results. The bay offers one of the best catamaran sailing venues in the world with good winds and warm waters. This is shown by the Tanzacat regatta which is held in October every year and attracts competitors from as far as South Africa and Holland. If you are interested in Catamaran sailing there is a wide variety of boats to choose from. The Dart 20 is a good strong fleet of boats that are relatively fast, inexpensive and easy to repair. The Hobie class is growing with Hobie 16, 18 and 21s. For the adventurous there is the "Hobie Tiger" which is the latest model of racing catamaran, complete with a spinnaker for extra thrills. If you are tired of sitting at home on the weekends and want to get come excitement and exercise, come and join the catamaran section. You will definitely not regret it. |
