The Club operates on a "no cash" basis so Members need to advance pay for their consumables.

You do not have to be a sailor to join, but it helps to enjoy the place (also Dar must be one of the world's most pleasant places to do it). There are also the possibilities of fishing, scuba diving, swimming, sail boarding & kayaking. There is a small swimming pool for when the tide is out or if fresh water is preferred.

We also have a good bar with reasonably low prices and a catering set up which does simple meals in the main kitchen and pizza 3 times a week. There is a fish barbeque on Sunday evenings by the fishing section.

Should you have any further queries please contact the Club on 2 600 132 or 137.

Better still you will be welcome to come in and look round.

The Dar es Salaam Yacht Club was founded in 1933 on the waters’ edge in the Harbour by some keen sailing Members of the then Dar es Salaam Club (now the Forodhani Hotel on Kivukoni Front). From a purely sailing Club it acquired the Power Boat section and then the Diving Section which was originally a branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club. The Yacht Club remained in the harbour until 1967 when it moved to the present site of Leopard’s Cove in Msasani Bay. As a result of this move to the clean waters of the Bay, swimming became a desirable activity at the Club.
