DYC bay sailing resumes on Friday the 5th October, with 3 races planned for the afternoon (from 2pm). Please help us to welcome back the raiders: their four day 120km sail is worthy of a cheer! If you would like to jump on one of the spectator boats for a closer view of racing, please pop along well in advance and sign on the sheet posted in the OOD box. Alternatively, join us at sunset for live music on the quarterdeck.
The biggest party of the catamaran year is planned for this Saturday. Events kick off at 6pm with the Tanzacat Grand Prize Giving, and will be followed by music from the wonderful Tanzanites. If you would like to stay for dinner, please get your tickets for the delicious Nawabi Khana banquet well in advance of the day. Tickets are 28,000 per person and are available now from the office.
Come down to the club this weekend for some serious fun.
After an extraordinary first weekend of bay racing, the Tanzacat sailors are now on Zanzibar. You can follow their progress on facebook. Just click on the following link and ask to be a friend. http://www.facebook.com/groups/5961282178/
The greatest event of the DYC catamaran year is about to begin!
We have over 40 boats registered to take part in Tanzacat 2012, with almost half our competitors flying in from overseas. Jetting in from Australia, Canada, Nigeria, Fiji, UAE, France, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Kenya are international sailors coming to battle it out with local teams for the sought after gold, silver and bronze.
You don’t have to be a racer to join in the Tanzacat fun. Social events are open to all members, and offer something for everyone.
Join us night, for CFAO Happy Hour and the Tanzacat 2012 opening ceremony. Meet the competitors, watch Maasai dancing and be a part of the famous Mixing of the Waters ceremony. Afterwards, there will be live music, courtesy of Jhiko Man, and a slide show exhibiting some of the memorable moments from previous Tanzacats. Bop until you drop (or sneak away for an early night and a high carbo snack before the first official day of racing!)
It's still not too late to join the sailors heading for Zanzibar. For many, this epic four day sail across- and around - the archipelago is the highlight of Tanzacat. Photographs from previous years can be seen on our facebook page. If you would like to pop across, please see the attached schedule for the Zanzibar raid. The sailors leaving on Monday morning for the first leg - the 40km open water crossing.
